Having a sense of belonging is a common experience. A sense of belonging is a human need, just like the need for food and shelter.

Feeling that you belong is most important in seeing value in life, in attaching yourself to a place or a person and also in coping with stress. When the newcomers come to Canada often they feel isolated as their extended family members and close circle of friends are not there anymore to support them in their “new” Home.

To increase the sense of belonging of the newcomers to Canada, the Canada Connects program addresses the isolation of the newcomers by matching them with experienced Canadian Volunteer Mentors, who will help them to navigate the Canadian Culture, practice English, learn new skills, build their confidence and build their social network.

We are currently registering newcomers for our Canada Connects program and planning to conduct the orientation and match meeting on October 13, 2021@6:30pm.
