We know how difficult it is for young readers to find themselves in another country when so many necessary and important things are left at home, including their favorite books.

Reading together in one’s native language creates a sense of safety and connection, gives strength to endure the new reality and builds resilience through the encounter with the familiar sounds, words and book characters.

Since reading aloud is truly a superpower for children who are read to, we hope children will enjoy this shared experience with other peers. Listening to stories read in any language promotes speech development in children and stimulates their imagination. It helps the child to concentrate and express his or her feelings, reading together creates a sense of closeness and helps to learn to understand yourself and others.

Also, our hope is that children and their parents will have the opportunity to make connections and build vitally important networks and find new friendships while enjoying the programming provided. Finding support in one another and sharing common experiences through reading/ craft activities will engage and help build resilience and create positive enjoyable moments.
