NEATwalks

FREE Guided Tours and Activities (Virtual and In-Person):

For Newcomers to Canada — A great way to get a first-hand experience of Canada’s outdoor, sports and winter culture!

NEATwalks is the events and activities segment of the NEAT (Newcomers Explore and Appreciate Toronto) Mentorship program. NEAT mentorship program is uniquely designed to help new immigrants/ convention refugees gain hands-on “Canadian Work” experience in event planning, project management and social media marketing. Newcomers are matched with mentors for a period of 4-6 months and work as a team to explore Toronto (in-person or virtually) and then plan and organize free guided tours and activities that are open to public and specifically geared towards newcomers to Canada to help them get acquainted with outdoor culture!

Through NEAT program, and with the help of sponsors, community partners, and individual volunteers, we offer FREE guided tours and outdoor activities throughout the year. In the winter, we call it “Wintegration”.

Who Can Join?

Everyone is welcome to join these FREE guided tours and activities! These are fun events to enjoy with your family and a great way to connect with others, socialize and learn about getting involved as a volunteer or participating in CultureLink’s other programs.

Because we are funded by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and  Citizenship Canada), we require a copy of the landing paper, convention refugee acceptance letter or permanent resident card of all the newcomer attendees including children. This information is collected only once and helps us to show to our funder how many newcomers enjoy NEAT events and activities. We appreciate your support in providing this documentation.

Number of Attendees:

There is no restriction on the number of attendees at the NEAT events unless specified. Spots for special events (such as Trip to Maple Syrup Festival, Snow Shoeing, Sports Events, Museum Trips, Toronto Island Hikes, etc.) are subject to availability and on first come first basis. We request the attendees to register in advance as well as notify the organizers if they become unavailable. We recommend arriving/joining the events on time so these are carried on smoothly and within the specified time. If Zoom link is provided, we recommend testing it ahead of time on your phone or computer and check video and microphone settings.

We ask all the participants to sign off a Media Release and a Liability Waiver.
