Cybersecurity Training Program

For many newcomers, establishing a career in Canada is an important step to living a fulfilled life. If you have a strong interest and educational background in IT, pursuing a career in cybersecurity could be an exciting career move.

Our Cybersecurity Training enables you to work towards your Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate, and prepares you for your job search.

Our 9-week free program has been developed by cybersecurity professionals from around the globe, it follows ISACA’s ITCA curriculum, and all the material is to ISACA standard.

Completing this program will not only prepare you to obtain the ISACA certificate -setting you up to begin your career in this industry-, but also  boost your confidence during the job search process.

During the program you’ll advance your knowledge in connection and layers, as well as in network architecture language and infrastructure. You’ll also develop a greater understanding of security operations, response of information security, threat landscape and securing assets.

Eligibility

  • Have a post-secondary education in IT, a background or high interest in IT.
  • Be a Permanent Resident or Convention Refugee (not awaiting status or requiring renewal).
  • Have proof of a CLB language assessment completed within the last 24 months showing a minimum of CLB level 7 & 8 in all areas: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • Intermediate to advanced technical skills.
  • Strong eagerness to learn in a hybrid environment that combines independent study with active participation in online sessions.         

Course structure:

  • One (1) week of Canadian career development training (Monday-Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm) in person at CultureLink’s head office.
  • Eight (8) weeks online sessions 2 evenings per week for peer-study and instructor lead sessions.

Also included:

  • ISACA mock exam to get you better prepared for the actual exam
  • Information related to other settlement services, mental health support, and additional job search.

How to join

  1. Attend an information session. You can see upcoming dates in our Events Calendar.
  2. Email cybersecurity@culturelink.ca expressing your interest in registering for the program.
  3. Complete our Intake Form and submit it along with your valid Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score.
  4. Attend an assessment interview.
  5. If you qualify, you will be asked to submit documents for registration.You’ll then receive confirmation of registration and a training start date.
