ON Indigenous Land

ON Indigenous Land was an initiative aimed at fostering meaningful connections between youth from racialized communities (16-30 years old) and Indigenous Peoples. Through a series of engaging activities, this project empowered participants to become leaders in their communities by bridging divides and fostering understanding.

Our project focusedon three core activities:

  1. Training: a comprehensive six-week training program facilitated by esteemed partners such as the Centre for Indigenous Research and Policy and the Institute for Change Leadership. Modules covered Indigenous awareness, anti-racism, and the use of storytelling as a tool for community advocacy. Participants crafted personalized Land Acknowledgements, reflecting their newfound knowledge and respect.

  2. Community Mobilization: Armed with their training, participants collaborated on community actions guided by Indigenous elders, youth, and organizations. This hands-on approach allowed them to apply their increased awareness and leadership skills to effect positive change. Sign the petition.

  3. Knowledge Sharing: We believe in amplifying the impact of our project through digital documentation and interactive theater. We partnered with Mixed Company Theatre to implement Forum Theatre—an UNESCO-recognized educational tool for social change. Participants contributed their experiences to script development, culminating in a powerful performance that highlighted their journey and insights. A videographer captured key moments and testimonials.

We aim to continue building bridges, fostering understanding, and empowering youth to become respectful and stalwart allies to Indigenous Peoples.
