Parkdale Community Information Connections

Our Parkdale Community Information Program features four exciting events for the community to benefit from and enjoy.

Sankofa is a designed for-and-by event for youth 13-29 years of age. We want to support you to develop in a healthy and positive way. The focus is on physical and mental health, engaging with the arts and caring for the environment. As part of these activities you’ll have the opportunity to meet like-minded people and make new friends in your community, too.

Our second event, Skills for Youth Success (SYS), is designed to help you market yourself in a digital world. If you’re aged 15-29, you can join us for step-by-step guidance on how to build your professional digital profile and create a new-media resume. In this ultimate pre-employment program, you’ll also have the chance to attend our career events where you can develop crucial networking skills, learn about potential careers and build important connections.

Active & Connected Seniors brings together seniors from different nationalities and backgrounds for regular afternoons of activities throughout the year. All of the activities involved are fun and engaging, and promote your overall physical, mental and emotional well-being. This event is run in partnership with United Way of Toronto.

The final event in this program is Global Roots, run in partnership with The Stop Community Food Centre. With a focus on intergenerational relationships, it brings together seniors and youth as they learn how to garden, cook and look after the environment. Tending a garden is a hobby that brings so much joy, especially when it comes to harvesting and tasting what you’ve grown alongside new friends. Not only will you learn about nutrition and share healthy recipes, but you’ll get a chance to spend time with a different age group, something which brings new perspectives, skills and learning. We provide snacks and TTC tickets/tokens, and secondary school students qualify for community hours.
