Parkdale Community Information Connections

At Parkdale Community Information Connections we coordinate programs and activities to break social isolation and increase connection of Parkdale residents, with a focus on seniors and youth.

Sankofa organizes workshops that create a safe place to focus on physical and mental health, engage with the arts and care for the environment. It is designed for-and-by youth 13-29 years of age, to have the opportunity to meet like-minded people and make new friends in the community.

Skills for Youth Success (SYS),  designed to help youth market themselves in a digital world. If you’re aged 15-29, you can join us for step-by-step guidance on how to build your professional digital profile and create a new-media resume. This pre-employment program, also teaches networking skills and helps participants learn about potential careers and build important connections.

Global Roots, runs in partnership with The Stop Community Food Centre. It brings together seniors and youth as they learn how to garden, cook and look after the environment. Tending a garden is a hobby that brings so much joy, especially when it comes to harvesting and tasting what you’ve grown alongside new friends. Participants learn about nutrition and share healthy recipes, while spending time with a different age group, gaining new perspectives, skills and learning. We provide snacks and TTC tickets/tokens, and secondary school students qualify for community hours.

Active & Connected Seniors brings together seniors for regular afternoons of fun and engaging activities that promote overall physical, mental and emotional well-being. This event is run in partnership with United Way of Toronto.

Connected Seniors, online workshops with one-on-one follow-up phone support for seniors.
