Pop Up Learning Lab at the Lillian Smith Library by Stanley Teo

It has been a very happening month here at the Lillian Smith Library with a slew of information sessions such as Buying Your First Home, Understanding Your Credit Score & Report, OSAP and assorted computer classes. Of particular interest is the Pop Up Learning Labs (PULL) where the mobile lab of tech gadgets travel to different Toronto Public Libraries to bring new and emerging technology to the community through staff-led programs and classes.

On May 15, a group of newcomer seniors were treated to a customized 2-hour session where they learned more about 3D printing and Virtual Reality. None of them had the real-life experience with a 3D printer or an HTC Hive VR headset prior. As such, they all had numerous questions for the presenter. For the second half of the program, they were able to try out the VR headset and immerse themselves in the dream-like majesty of whales, stingrays and other marine life with theBlu VR app.
