Labour Market Assistance Program

When you come to Canada, you might find the labour market is very different than in your home country. Maybe you aren’t sure which skills you should emphasize, or you’re wondering what more you could do to be the right fit for a particular role.

The employment counsellors in our Labour Market Assistance Program offer one-to-one support, sharing current information on job opportunities and requirements in your industry. We work with you to develop a plan and access resources to make your job search easier and more successful.

  • Enjoy one-to-one support to help you discover what you need to become employed.
  • Find out about specific employment opportunities in your areas of interest.
  • Develop a plan based on your skills, experience and circumstances.
  • Receive referrals to helpful workshops and job training programs.
  • Engage with specialists who can motivate and inspire you.
  • Understand your path to success in manageable steps.

  • You can benefit from this program if you are a new immigrant, Permanent Resident or a Convention Refugee looking for a job.
  • If you are a Refugee Claimant, International Student or Work Permit holder, please see our Settlement Works in Community Spaces and Library Settlement Services program pages.
