March Break information session at Central Technical School

On March 6th, three agencies participated in the March Break information session that was held at Central Technical School. Organized by Settlement Workers in Schools based out of Central Technical School, staff from CultureLink’s Youth Centre, YMCA and Scadding Court Community Centre were all on hand to share program information being offered for the March break, some locally and others across the City of Toronto. Newcomer students were able to sign up for a wide range of activities including sports, arts, outings and entertainment. Participation will help the newcomer students to discover Toronto and their community, learn to navigate the city on the TTC, gain new experiences and make new friends. The newcomer students were given one-on-one support by their mentors who helped them to enlist in the activities of their choice. For many of these students, participating in these activities will come as a welcome relief for the March break which would otherwise be spent alone indoors. Thanks to our community partners for enhancing the lives of our newcomers.
